    Position Summary:

    Join a summer crew working at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument near Mountainair, NM. Learn how to preserve historic structures through traditional techniques while serving your community as part of a 6-9 person team.

     

    Position Purpose:

    Crew members will perform manual labor alongside National Park Service preservationists throughout the park's historic ruins while learning about the cultural history of the monument and surrounding areas. All Corpsmembers will receive both personal and professional development training in topics such as First Aid/CPR, financial management, public speaking skills and much more.

      

    Date/Benefits:

    Members will receive a living stipend of $760 before taxes every two weeks, assuming full attendance.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Work hard on all projects as part of a team.
    • Actively participate in daily check-ins and educational training sessions.
    • Maintain safe work environment to ensure both physical and mental well-being.
    • Comply with work standards set forth by project partners and Crew Supervisor.
    • Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
    • Be willing to reflect on your experience and share feedback in a group setting.
    • Respect the natural environment and community resources.
    • Develop obtainable goals for your transition into further education or employment.
    • Comply with all RMYC rules and policies and avoid any prohibited activities as described in the member contract.

    Qualifications

    • 16 – 25 years old as of program start date
    • U.S. Citizen/National/Permanent Resident
    • Strong work ethic
    • Able to commit to the entire term of service: June 4 - August 10, 2018
    • Able to work in supervised environment
    • Day crew: able to commute daily to/from the crew meeting location

     

    Physical/Environmental/Emotional Requirements:


    In performing the essential functions of this position, crew members will need to:

    • Lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.
    • Frequently traverse uneven terrain, or sit in a vehicle/classroom.
    • Read written materials, write, and communicate with others individually and in group settings.
    • Work primarily in the outdoors and in all weather conditions.
