  • Overview

    Position Summary:

    Join an American Sign Language Inclusion crew working on conservation projects based in Santa Fe at the NM School for the Deaf. Serve your community as part of a team while working with other AmeriCorps members!


    Position Purpose:

    Crews will work to safely complete projects such as trail construction and maintenance, habitat/watershed restoration, erosion control, invasive species removal, and restoration/repair of historic structures. Service involves collaboration with the National Park Service, Railyard Park Conservancy, SITE Santa Fe, and the NM School for the Deaf. All Corpsmembers will receive both personal and professional development training in topics such as First Aid/CPR, financial management, and career development.



    This is an AmeriCorps position and corpsmembers will receive a living allowance throughout the season, as well as an education award upon successful completion of the term of service. This award can be used to pay tuition at most colleges, universities, or trade schools, or to pay off student loans already acquired. Corpsmembers are also eligible for health insurance during their term of service.

    • 17 – 25 years old as of program start date
    • U.S. Citizen/National/Permanent Resident
    • Strong work ethic
    • Able to commit to the entire term of service: June 4 - August 10, 2018
    • Able to work in supervised environment
    • Day crew: able to commute daily to/from the crew meeting location


    Physical/Environmental/Emotional Requirements:

    In performing the essential functions of this position, crew members will need to:

    • Lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.
    • Frequently traverse uneven terrain, or sit in a vehicle/classroom.
    • Read written materials, write, and communicate with others individually and in group settings.
    • Work primarily in the outdoors and in all weather conditions.
